  1. Report Cards are Changing

Report cards will be coming out at the end of the month. There are some changes to the report cards from previous years. We are moving to a four point scale from the previous use of E, P, B, and I. Another significant change is that report cards are designed to be accessed online. A PowerSchool account will be required to access the report card. Please contact the office in order to obtain access to PowerSchool if you have not previously accessed it.

  1. Alberta Education Surveys

Over the next couple of months, students, parents, and staff will have opportunities to complete surveys that Alberta Education sends out. Students and parents in grade 4 are the recipients of the surveys. If any parents have questions about the surveys, please feel free to contact Mr. Coles. Surveys will be mailed to parents, students will complete them at school.

  1. Family Game Night - RSVP

Family Game Night is on. We will be hosting a Family Game Night on Friday January 27 from 6:00 - 8:30 pm. We will be set up in the library or gymnasium based on the level of interest. We will have some favourite games of our own, but encourage you to bring your family favourites. Board games, card games, or even role playing games would be perfect! We will have popcorn, water and juice boxes available for purchase, but you are encouraged to bring your own snacks along if you would like. We will have a Lego area available for younger children if you would like to bring them along.

Please click here: http://bit.ly/STMN_FamilyGameNight in order to register. This will help us know how many families will be joining us and allow us to keep you up to date on all of the details.

As well, on February 16, we will be hosting a Winter Family Dance. Please mark your calendars. We will have DJ Rudy in the house spinning tunes for families.

  1. Registration for 2017-2018

Registration for the 2017-2018 school year begins on Monday January 16, 2017. For information on the process, please click this link (https://www.eics.ab.ca/parents-and-students/school-registration). There is a major change this year that will impact kindergarten students. The Elk Island Catholic School Board chose to align our kindergarten age of entry with Elk Island Public Schools. As such, students entering kindergarten in September 2017 must be 5 by December 31, 2017. It is very important that parents register their students as soon as possible as it significantly helps in the planning process for next year. If you have friends or family that have children that will be joining us in 2017-2018, please have them visit us in the office or register online as soon as possible.

Parents whose students are moving from one grade to the next do not need to register again, but will be asked to
